Blog post 3 Topic: My dream job (29-09-23, 23:59 h)
Example
I studied English Linguistics, and I always thought "What would my future job be?". And here I am!!
As a youngster, I always wanted to have a fun, light, and easy-to-do job but always wanted to be with people, I also liked languages, the arts, literature, and maths, and nearly all the areas were something interesting to me. Someone once told me it was a straight consequence of me being Gemini. LOL.
From all the many areas I could work in, I always wanted something neither too outdoors nor indoors, furthermore, I wanted something that would produce some kind of social change, a good, important, and deep change.
In other matters, I wanted to travel, to see the world, to meet strange people, well... strange meaning, different than me and my friends and family and I believe that by teaching languages, I have been able to do all of that, which leads me to think it was the right choice because if I had selected a career in any of my other beloved areas, such as Interpreting, or Researchv in Phonology, Dialectology, for instance, probably I would have already been stressed from having to follow strict diplomatic rules, or stressed out from having to face the logics of the market, knowing that after all, I would have been a person reinforcing and promoting, for better or worse, a certain degree of status quo….Yet I like transformation and deepening as concepts.
I tried working in an office once, in a job that was not as stressful as a teacher's job. I enjoyed it a lot at first: leaving work, going home, and not having anything else to do for work, was somewhat rewarding but after a year, and after missing the classrooms a lot, I decided to go back to stressful, challenging but rewarding teaching.
Nowadays, I am thinking of taking up Ph.D. studies in the field of Applied Linguistics, I would like to do it either in the Netherlands, Switzerland and/or England. I would like to do it in those countries, well, in the two first ones, because they have a long history of successful multilingualism and because they are definitely good at languages; England on the other hand, would be my last choice, and this is because of a fact, that gave birth to a joke, that is, - and please, no offense-, but the joke says: "how do you call a person who speaks only one language? […] you call ‘em British"...LOL
Amazing... I never thought about my future job in that way: so deep and dreamer (maybe because I never thought in a future for me, I don't know). Anyway, thanks for the post, is very... encouraging.
ResponderEliminarIt´s really difficult to think about our future when there are so many posibilities! Guess that being a teacher had to be an amazing job you can change the life of many people and guess that might be incredible!
ResponderEliminarChoosing my career was difficult for me. Now, choosing what to do when I finish college puts me in the same situation. I have some things in mind, but nothing concrete aside from some vague ideas.
ResponderEliminarThank you for sharing your experiences and dreams with us, it's truly inspiring, especially for those of us with many interests. It can be overwhelming, but like you, we have to continuously seek our happiness, trusting our intuition.

ResponderEliminarChoosing what we would like to work in is always difficult, but I believe that trying out different job areas helps us figure out what we would like to dedicate ourselves to, in addition to having a preliminary understanding based on our preferences and the comforts we would like to have.
Choosing a major out of so many options was very stressful for me, so I chose one where I could work in different areas.

ResponderEliminarJAjaja I understand the indecision of choosing a major or imagining the future job you will have. But I am glad that you chose well.
ResponderEliminarI would like to be in a classroom too, I've always liked to teach. I think the same thing would happen to me if I worked in an office or something like that (we like the stress and adrenaline of the education system XD)
ResponderEliminarwow amazing, when I was younger I wanted to be a teacher, but jaja..., it´s no my thing, altough I don´t see myself in an office, I feel like I would lose myself :)
ResponderEliminarI think the teacher's job is definitely challenging, I don't think I could be one because I don't have the vocation as you do.
ResponderEliminarIt´s very satisfying to read that he fulfilled his dreams and continues to expand that goal.
ResponderEliminarThank you for sharing your experience :) It's so important to be happy in what you do... I hope one day to find that same happiness
ResponderEliminarWhat an interesting decision to have given classes again, despite being stressful. I still think that doing the things that make us happy, however tedious, is worth it.
ResponderEliminarI readed the post and thought in the phrase "one returns where one was happy". I hope you continue to do what you like to do!
ResponderEliminarThank you to share with us your way to the see things! very beautiful

ResponderEliminarI hope you can travel to the countries you wish to pursue your Ph.D, it sounds like a unique and adventure-filled experience.
ResponderEliminarIt was great to read about your experience. I am so glad that you find your teaching job rewarding, that speaks well of you :)
ResponderEliminarYour journey from English Linguistics to teaching languages and considering a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics is fantastic! Keep excelling in those language skills and inspiring students!
ResponderEliminarYou're Gemini? OMG. I'm a Sagittarius, and that's probably why I can't see myself in any regular job. LOL
ResponderEliminarI think is really nice that you want to expand your knowledge and i hope someday you can study in those countries
ResponderEliminarI don't think it's because he's a Gemini! Hahaha
ResponderEliminarI believe that destiny puts each person in the place where he/she should be, I am a true believer of that. :)
ResponderEliminari think the british person dont need learn any other lenguague because english is usefull in everywhere ;)
ResponderEliminarI really hope you can take your Phd abroad!!
ResponderEliminarThe fact that they tell you it's a consequence of being a Gemini is very funny, and the idea of calling them "British" I understand because of how laid-back they are and how much they think of themselves. 😄

ResponderEliminarIt is obvious that you enjoy and love your work! As a student, I appreciate it.
ResponderEliminartake a choice so important like what will you do in future is very difficult, especially when you are interested in all the areas. I lived something similar jaja
ResponderEliminarThe important thing is to work in a pleasant space.
ResponderEliminarIm glad you choose something you like it to work, being a languagues teacher has brought you great anecdotes that I hope to continue reading!
ResponderEliminarThere are a lot of options, is very important to choose what you want. About study overseas I think is an unforgettable experience :D I would like to do it
ResponderEliminarI think the person who told you that you're so gemini was right haha. You have a lot of options here in Chile and another country to work and teach another students, because all the people need the language for their lifes.
ResponderEliminarWhat a joy to know that you are working in what you like to do!
ResponderEliminarI'm very secure that you chose the right decision. Plus it's what you like so it's even better!!
ResponderEliminarworking in an office could be pretty boring, very interesting experience!
ResponderEliminarAmazing story, I'm sure you made the right decision. It's obvious that you enjoy by teaching. The best feeling in the world is to live doing something that you enjoy, that's the goal for everyone of us :)
ResponderEliminarI have never considered becoming a teacher, especially of English, I really find it very difficult and I wish you luck in your PhD.
ResponderEliminarThe idea of having a job where there are not so many rules and is more relaxed, represents me. For example, can't imagine going to work dressed formally.
ResponderEliminarI think it's important to do things that makes one to feel complete, even if it's more challenging, because at the end, it will be more rewarding.
ResponderEliminarknowing that you work on what you love gives me hopes.
